Cru, the new concept of supermarket chain Colruyt, in the spring of 2016 will also have an office open in Wijnegem, close to Antwerp.
Supermarket chain Colruyt will open in the spring of 2016 two new Cru-shops, in addition to the site in Ghent, which is already known, we now also have a store in Wijnegem.
According to the operator, the retail giant – “a concept for and by people with a passion for fine food, pure tastes and authentic quality products” – a great success. The first store in Overijse exceeds allegedly the own expectations, although no concrete financial results.
A Cru-store has a significantly smaller area than an average Colruytwinkel. The range is deliberately limited to about 850 (fresh and local) products, available at a dozen booths. Thus, they want to keuzestress of the customers as much possible to remove, so please note that Jean-Pierre Roelands, director, retail concepts of the Colruytgroep.
On the occasion of the annual opening of the store in Overijse was a new establishment, announced in Wijnegem, in the so-called project ‘Channel’. The opening is scheduled for april/may. The site is in an old malt house is now an art of Axel Vervoordt. When Cru there settles, there will be a small forty employees can get to work.
The other new shop is equipped on the Kouter in Ghent and opens at about the same time.
In the longer term, think one to about fifteen to twenty shops, this ‘in the coming years’. Want to Roelands to say that the results of the first three shops to wait and see.
There is also thought about a restaurant, with Cru products. That project would be in the spring in Overijse can start. Also the sale of maaltijdboxen or internet sales of Cru-were are possible. (Belga/DB)
