DENVER – the Four administrators at a Denver charter school have been suspended after a playground fight captured on video see the school’s restorative justice coordinator encouraging the students to throw punches.
Officials with the Wyatt Academy said Friday the school principal, assistant principal, the school psychologist and the coordinator are on administrative leave.
In the first instance, three girls involved in the April 20 altercation were cited by the police for public fighting. The citations were later dismissed.
Denver-police are investigating the co-ordinator, who eventually broke up the fight.
While Wyatt Academy administrators learned of the breach on the same day, activists with Our Voice, Our Schools complain that no action was taken against employees until the group released the video. The school board has hired an external researcher.
Denver Public Schools officials didn’t learn about the battle until 17 May.
