Colonial church in the Peruvian city of Cuzco burned to the ground
In the Peruvian city of Cuzco is Friday, the colonial church of San Sebastian with valuable works of art burned down.
A by Spanish conquistadores made sculpture and a number of works of the famous painter Diego Quispe Tito Quechua (1611-1681) were lost.
Also was the gold-covered altar destroyed. The largest part of the art treasures of the church could in time be saved.
Cause of the fire is likely to short-circuit. Four years ago the church was restored for converted 1.3 million euros.
