Cocu happy that PSV selection together was to the final transfer

PSV coach Phillip Cocu is pleased that in the last week of the summer transfer no more departed from Eindhoven, while there is a lot of interest for his players.

“I’ve spent the last days of the transfer made strong the selection on each other to keep”, said Cocu Friday at his press conference in the run-up to the Eredivisie match at sc Heerenveen on Sunday afternoon.

“That in my opinion, is just as important as the fact that we have no new back to the selection, can add. There must be a proper balance between experience and talent, that is in my eyes now the case.”

Goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet, defender Santiago Arias and attackers Luuk de Jong and Jürgen Locadia had all four concrete offers for PSV to leave before Deadline Day (31 August). The quartet is, however, still available for Cocu, who earlier this summer Hector Moreno, Andres Guardado, Jetro Willems and Davy Pröpper lost.

“We want to be a kampioenswaardig team to keep and the players involved is important,” said the trainer, who explained that the “by coincidence” fails to find a successor for the Eintracht Frankfurt left full-Willems.

Bad series

Cocu hopes that PSV Sunday in Heerenveen with a fit group could deal with a bad series in the province of Friesland. The people from the netherlands won in 2011 for the last time at Heerenveen. “Statistics are there to change”, looked the coach in advance. “It is a spirited contest, but not more than that.”

PSV started the league with three wins, but with the away games at Heerenveen and FC Utrecht, and between the cracker at home against Feyenoord a heavy programme ahead of us.

“Or the opponent is now in Heerenveen, Feyenoord or of a different caliber, when you champion want to be, simply a season-long stable performance”, said Cocu

He expects to be an attractive duel in Heerenveen, the netherlands. “There are Sunday two teams in the field who would like to attack. Heerenveen has a lot of talk of power and we also want to always attack. There are our qualities.”

sc Heerenveen-PSV starts Sunday at 12.30 pm and is led by arbitrator Kevin Blom.
