COC-price for André van Duin
Comedian, actor and presenter André van Duin, and activist Miriam van der Have, have Sunday the Bob Angelo Penning of the COC. President Tanja Ineke, the COC presented the medals in the Amsterdam pop temple Paradiso.
André van Duin received the award “for the clear way in which he as very famous almost half a century, contributing to the acceptance of homosexuality”.
The COC also praises the way Of Dune from the beginning of his career in the seventies, was open about his homosexuality. “A time in which that is still far from self-evident was,” says the association.
Miriam van der Have is the medal, awarded “for her exemplary commitment to the emancipation of intersekse persons in the Netherlands and the world”. Intersekse people are born with a body that is not (fully) meet the biological definition of male or female.
The Bob Angelo Medal, is named after the pseudonym of Niek Engelschman, founder and first president of the COC. Previous winners were, among others, Erwin Olaf, Boris Dittrich, Paul de Leeuw, and Arie Boomsma.
