Coach Jamie Morrison of the Dutch volleybalvrouwen has his contract with the bond extended by two years. The 38-year-old American is now fixed up and with the Olympic Summer games of 2020 in Tokyo, as technical director Joop Alberda.
“I am extremely pleased that I made the journey with this team to the Olympic Games of 2020 may continue,” says Morrison Wednesday on the site of the Dutch volleybal.
“We have a fantastic group of women, capable of great achievements to come. The last world CHAMPIONSHIP was only the beginning. It is a great honour that I take this team can continue to lead.”
Morrison was the beginning of 2017 appointed as head coach and signed when a contract for two years, with an option for another two years. The trainer from California, was the successor of the successful Italian Giovanni Guidetti, among whom for years he worked as an assistant at the Turkish club Vakifbank.
The volleybalsters ended last year, Morrison as second at the european CHAMPIONSHIPS and were two months ago and fourth at the world championships in Japan, the best world cup performance ever for the Oranjevrouwen.
“We are pleased that the bond the contract with Jamie has renewed”, responds the captain Maret Balkestein-Grothues. “Over the past two years we have been under his vision for the medals played at the big tournaments end. Now, our sights aimed at the Games of Tokyo, and that we go as a team under Jamie’s guidance with great confidence.”
Qualification Play main goal
The most important task for Morrison in the coming two years is to reach the Olympics in 2020. Orange plays next year, from 2 to 4 August in an olympic qualifier (MAR) against Italy, Belgium and Kenya. The winner of that group should go to Tokyo.
If the Netherlands are not the first to know end, in January 2020, a second chance at a European OCT. There is still one olympic ticket to forgive.
The volleybalsters play next year, also a european CHAMPIONSHIP in Hungary, Poland, the Czech republic and Turkey.

Alberda will also continue until Tokyo 2020
The Dutch volleybal extended Wednesday also the employment of Alberda up to and including Tokyo 2020. The 67-year-old technical director, who in 1996 as a coach, the olympic gold won with the Oranjemannen, was in August appointed for a term of four months, but now stays on longer.
“With Joop we currently have the best husband in house for this position,” said Guido Davio, the general director of the knzb. “The cooperation pleases excellent and in this crucial phase in the direction of the Olympic Games of Tokyo, I am pleased that his work for us two years will continue.”
Alberda: “Both in volleyball and in beach volleyball perform we in the world, there are more than two hundred countries jealous. The past few months I have enjoyed the commitment and performance of the teams. Also, I have determined that there is still a percentage chance to win, and here we go.”
