Christina Aguilera remembers ‘hurt’ when she was up against Britney Spears in a new interview with the Cosmopolitan.

It’s been almost 16 years since Christina Aguilera released her “Stripped” album, but the star is now to see how they felt after the recording of the backlash.

In a new interview with Cosmopolitan for the October issue, in which the Grammy-award winning singer graces the cover of, Aguilera admitted that “It is difficult to hear that your names are called.”

“I remember being hurt by these commercials on MTV, where Britney as the good girl and me as the bad girl,” Aguilera, 37, recalled, and compared with the Spears in time.

“It’s like, or I’m going to demure and innocent, that is OK. But if I’m just going to be myself, I am the problems.”

Aguilera’s 2002 single “Dirrty” was in the middle of the controversy with its music video with the singer in daring outfits.

“I love the female body, and I think it is something to be proud of, not something that one should dictate to property of,” Aguilera explained to the outlet about the women in possession of their body and themselves.

“‘Dirrty’ was extremely controversial, but now it would be nothing,” she said. “I hope I paved the way and helped make the rules that women can be any version of herself wants to be…and proud of it.”

Fast-forward to her latest album “Liberation”, released in June, the star went for a different look for the coverage in comparison with “Stripped” and her other previous records.

“I still love getting glammed up, but I want to show the imperfections on this go-round,” she said of her decision to go make-up free.

“It’s scary, but I’m ready for the challenge. You can’t tell me something I haven’t already heard about me anyway.”
