Chipmaker Qualcomm sees earnings halve by Korean fine

Qualcomm has in the last quarter, more turnover, shot a year earlier, but saw its profits decrease substantially.

That leaves Qualcomm in the quarterly report (pdf) of the company. Qualcomm as chip maker responsible for the hardware in, among other things, a large number of smartphones. This hardware is also known as a Mobile Station Modem (MSM) chips.

Of these chips last quarter to 217 million shipped, let the company know. That is 10 percent less than a year earlier, when there were 242 were made.

The turnover has increased to us $ 6 billion, of 5,78 billion dollars. Analysts were, however, out of a turnover of 6,12 billion dollars.

Profit fell to $ 700 million. That is a drop of 54 percent a year earlier, was the profit still at 1.5 billion dollars. The decrease is mainly due to a fine that the company in South Korea had to pay because of the abuse of power.
