Chip Gaines is using his platform to help make a difference in the lives of other people.
The old “Fixer Upper” star, 44, posted a new message to his wife In Magnolia’s blog on Monday, urging the readers to reflect and think about the simple acts of kindness that we will be able to participate in the spreading of love and joy.
In an essay entitled, ” We Believe in Human Kindness,” he wrote, “It’s been a tough weeks time for a lot of people in this country, and I can’t help but wonder, how did we get here?” in reference to the recent mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio; and Gilroy, Calif.

“It seems to me that we are all created in the likeness, and that our hearts are naturally drawn toward one another. But the thing about kindness is that it is a choice. It’s something that we’ll have to give it away with the hope and expectation that it would one day be given to each of us. And I’m not necessarily talking about the friendliness of the service which is form of like a grand gesture, or the subtle differences, which will be offered for a special of occasions,” Chip continued.

“I’m more and more in the day-to-day, in this world, which is in abundance in equal measure to a loved one as a stranger on the street. The way I see it, the way we interact with our neighbors, our coworkers, the people in the check-out clerk at the grocery store, and even the person who is merely going through the motions, cuts us off in traffic, and has had a profound effect on the way people choose to communicate with us. Here’s what I’m thinking about kindness: It’s contagious.”

He described how he wants the Building to be guided by the example of the “Coffee Manifesto,” a series of leaflets with the statement: “We believe in the human goodness,” in addition to the numerous random acts of kindness that readers will be able to participate in it.
“Our team has had a number of these flyers, and it is written in a simple act of kindness. Kindness asks us to see into each other’s eyes and see a different person as a valuable human being. We have to start right here at home in Waco, TEXAS,” Chip explained.

“So we’re going to hang them around the office and on the vessels and in and around the city. We will have a link to the flyer below, so that you are able to download and print out a few for yourself. Hang it in your home, office, or school. I think it is a subtle reminder of when this might be sufficient to help us to choose kindness,” he concluded.
