Chinese manufacturers dominate the domestic smartphone market
The Chinese smartphone market is dominated by domestic companies. Fewer than 87 percent of the smartphones in China over the counter, is made by a company in the country is located.
This is evident from new figures from market researcher Counterpoint, the second quarter of 2017.
Huawei held the top position in the market and expanded its market share from 16.9 to 20.2 percent. The company is followed by the also Chinese companies Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi.
The latter recorded a significant growth, after more than a year of contraction. Xiaomi now has a market share of 13 percent in China.
Apple is the largest foreign smartphonefabrikant in the country, with a market share of 8.2 percent. That is roughly stable compared to a year earlier. Samsung saw its market share in a year’s time, collapse, from 7 to 3 percent.
Counterpoint expects Chinese smartphonemerken more and more focus on other countries in Asia and Africa, because the Chinese market is scarcely growing. The smartphoneverkopen layers in the second quarter of 2017 is still 3 percent higher than last year.
