The Chinese chatbot Xiaoice Microsoft has a filter to certain themes in conversations to avoid. As possible, it is politically sensitive topics.

Microsoft confirmed opposite Fortune that use is made of a filter, says the company is not which topics are filtered out. Xiaoice is a self-learning chatbot that is active on the social media Weibo and WeChat.

According to the U.s. television programs, CNNMoney is Xiaoice not in on questions about the deadly Tiananmenprotest of 1989, and the term Steam Bun Xi, a nickname for president Xi Jinping.

At the asking of a question containing the words “overthrow the Communist y”, the chatbot replied with “Or I’m crazy? If I answer, do you make a screenshot”.

It is possible the filter is built at the insistence of the Chinese government, that the dissemination of information on sensitive information to censorship stops. More than 40 million Chinese have, according to Microsoft, one or more conversations with Xiaoice.
