Children’s hospital gets Britney Spears-piano
A hospital in the U.s. Las Vegas opens later this year, a Britney Spears-wing. The singer donated one million to the setting, which children with cancer are treated.
“I have in my career a lot of things done that I am proud, but never more than this”, says the singer, according to People in a press release from the hospital.
“The fact that I use my celebrity status could be used to raise money for this great institute to build and sick children and their families to help brings me not only to tears, but my career is incredibly a lot of meaning.”
Spears donated from each ticket that for her Piece of Me-concert series in Las Vegas was sold to a dollar to the hospital, and organised events, including a sponsorfietstocht to collect money. In addition, the singer also offered her concert promoter Live Nation and the hotel chain Caesars, where concerts take place, financial support to the hospital.
The singer had a personal motivation for her fund-raisers. “My aunt Sandra died of cancer so I know the devastating consequences of this terrible disease for the victims and their loved ones.” Spears opens the new wing of the hospital this fall.
