In the Windy City, the City authorities are preparing to keep the citizens safe during the holiday festivities.
As thousands of people pour into the city of Chicago, late Tuesday, and to celebrate New year’s eve, more than 1,000 additional officers will be spread out all over the city, and to keep party-goers safe during the holidays.
The Chicago Police department and the Chicago Office of Emergency Management revealed on Monday that additional officers on foot, bike and mounted patrols, will take part in the members, and the enforcement of the act on the supervision of the local public transport network, in accordance with the mission of the office of chief Fred Waller.
“More than 1,300 additional police officers will be deployed in order to keep everyone safe,” Waller said Monday.

Crowds are expected to gather downtown for the celebrations, including a fireworks display. While the majority of the extra officers, in uniform, to increase the visibility and plainclothes officers will blend in with the crowd.

With a team of 300 officers to be employed specifically for a fireworks display along the River to the city, while a second team of officers to monitor the fireworks show at the Navy Pier.
“A lot of these agents have had their days off cancelled for the hard work on this important night,” Waller said. “The officers of each district, and each department will be pitching in this year.”

The police department patrols the Chicago expressways will also increase.
The city’s downtown Riverwalk will be closed at 10 o’clock on Tuesday, along with a number of streets and bridges, in the middle of the city, according to FOX32.

“We are expecting large crowds and significant impacts to traffic in the downtown area,” said Rich Guidice, managing director of Chicago’s Office of Emergency Management and Communications.

The boost in the New Year’s Eve to safety as the city is situated on the edge of the close of 2019 at the latest, with big drops in shootings and murders for the third year in a row. By the way, from about the middle of December, about 475 people have been killed, compared with 549 in 2018, which is a 14% decrease. In 2016, the murder rate was about 750, according to Chicago police data.
