Charges filed against mother in Minnesota ‘torture’ case

MINNEAPOLIS – Prosecutors in Minneapolis have filed a child neglect against the mother of a mentally disabled twin daughters, who were allegedly raped, beaten and held captive by their father for years.

Police are still searching for the 48-year-old mother, who was charged Thursday with three child neglect counts.

The 51-year-old father was charged Tuesday with a number of offences in a case that the government described as a torture. He alleged the father of two children, twins.

Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman told reporters Thursday the case is as horrifying as all that, he was seen as one of the county’s top prosecutor.

The alleged abuse lasted until last May, when the twins escaped and alerted the authorities.

The Associated Press is not the names of the parents to prevent the identification of the daughters, who are now in their early 20s.
