Chairman of the Spanish football federation arrested for corruption
Angel Maria Villar, is already 29 years president of the Spanish football association on Tuesday arrested by the police as part of an investigation into corruption of the Spanish justice.
Also his son Gorka was arrested. Both are suspected of corruption and embezzlement.
Agents searched the offices of the federal building for evidence. Multiple stops are not excluded.
Angel Maria Villar is since 1988 chairman of the Spanish football association. He was after the European title (2008) and world championship (2010) of the Spanish national team popular in his country. The president was two months ago, was re-elected.
The 67-year-old Maria Villar is chairman of the bond is also vice-president of FIFA and UEFA. After the departure of Michel Platini in the European football association, he was temporarily from October 2015 to september 2016 the president of UEFA.
He set himself up as a candidate for the last elections for the presidency of UEFA, but withdrew prematurely back. The Slovenian Aleksander Ceferin won the election eventually.
