Chadwick Boseman accepts Best Hero award for his starring role in “Black Panther” in 2018, the MTV Movie & TV Awards.
Chadwick Boseman is dedicating his “Best Hero award” real-life “real hero,” James Shaw, Jr.
On Monday, Boseman won the ‘Best Hero’ trophy at the 2018 MTV Film & TV Awards for his starring role as king T’Challa in “the Black Panther” and during his acceptance speech, the actor confirmed the Waffle House hero, James Shaw, Jr.
“Receiving an award for playing a superhero is great, but it is even greater in the recognition of the heroes that we have in real life,” Boseman said he accepted the golden popcorn statue while on the stage at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.

He continued: “I want to acknowledge someone here today, James Shaw. Jr.”
The star is also on Twitter to honor the 29-year-old.

In April, Shaw Jr. was hailed a hero after he grabbed the opportunity to wrestle a gun from a gunman in a Tennessee Waffle House, saving countless lives during a rampage at least four dead and several others injured.
Shaw Jr. it was a dinner at the Waffle House in Antioch, about 16 miles southeast of downtown Nashville, around 3:25 pm as a suspect of Travis Reinking allegedly opened fire outside the restaurant. Shaw said at a press conference at the time that he felt he had the opportunity to possibly stop the attack while the hail of bullets.
“I was just trying to get myself out of. I saw the chance and pretty much took over,” Shaw Jr. previously told the Tennessean.
