Cat and chicken found huddled together, seeking shelter of Carr Fire

A chicken and a cat formed an unlikely bond while seeking a shelter for the Carr Fire.

If the Carr Fire continued to rage in Redding, California, destroying more than 1,000 homes, the blaze also managed to make an unlikely friendship — between a cat and a chicken.

The two animals surprised California firefighters Monday when they were spotted together cozy in a doorway “for safety and support” in the Rescue as the Carr Fire continued to rage on in the neighborhood.

Grass Valley Fire department said in a press release of the cat and the chicken were suffering from multiple burns, FOX40 reported. The firefighters gave them water and placed them in a crate to take to the vet.

The cat and the hen reed in the same crate to the vet.

They made it to the safety of the drive in the same box. The cat and bird are expected to make full recovery.

The Carr Fire is now the sixth most destructive fire in the Golden State, and has claimed the lives of at least six people, including two firefighters, since the beginning of July 23.
