A candidate for the controversial constituent assembly in Venezuela is in the night from Saturday to Sunday killed.

Almost twenty million Venezuelans may Sunday vote on candidates for board of 545 members. President Nicolás Maduro wants, that the political system with a constitution reforms. His goal is to stay in power. He lost two years back the majority in the parliament.

The election is boycotted by the opposition, that the vote looks like a trick to the parliament further out of the game. Voters can not for or against the council vote: they can only vote on predominantly regeringsgetrouwe candidates.

Demonstrations

On the ballot, went to months of demonstrations against the government in advance, which certainly 115 people were killed. Although there from Friday to Tuesday, a demonstratieverbod is set, the elections are not expected to be quietly expired.
