Canadian woman lives days without lungs
Canadian doctors have to own say a 32-year-old mother’s life saved by her lungs to remove. The wife, Melissa Benoit, suffers from cystic fibrosis and last year was a life-threatening pneumonia.
The doctors of the General Hospital of Toronto feared that they have not long to live had as a result of the fast spreading infection.
After consultation with close family removed in april, the diseased lung, which, according to the doctors, a medical first was reported Wednesday in the Canadian newspaper The Globe and Mail.
The woman was kept alive by state of the art technology, the lungs for up to six days later donorlongen arrived and the transplant failed. The woman heard only later from the dangerous and known to unique surgery, because they at the time because of her critical condition in a coma.
