California Gov. Jerry Brown on Friday said his government is launching its own satellite in an attempt to combat climate change, a promise made, that he, after the election of President Trump.
“We are launching our own satellite, our own damn satellite to find out where the pollution is and how we stop it,” Brown told the audience at the Global climate action Summit in San Francisco.

The Golden State is working with the San Francisco-based Planet Labs for the launch of a satellite that would track climate change-causing pollutants. The company already has 150 satellites, said Brown.
“In California, with science under attack, in fact, we are growing under attack by a lot of people, including Donald Trump, but the climate threat,” Brown added. “So, we all the time want to know what the hell is everywhere in the world?”

The outgoing Governor, who will leave at the end of the year and will be replaced by Democrat Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom or Republican businessman John Cox, it is not known how much it will cost the state a space-related project, this is generally done by the Federal government.
Brown’s office told the Washington Post that scientists, the government and the staff will work on the project, but no money from the state coffers will be spent on the development of the satellite.
