LANCASTER, California. – Los Angeles County authorities say two parents have been arrested on suspicion of attempted sale of their two sons to drugs.

Sheriff officials said Monday that the deputies responded last week to a house in the Mojave Desert city of Lancaster, following reports of possible child abuse.

The officials say investigators identified 38-year-old Vincente Calogero and 32-year-old Sarah Nilson tried to exchange their two sons for money or drugs.

Calogero and Nilson could be faced with the costs, including the offence of child in danger, child neglect, and under the influence of a controlled substance. It was not immediately known if they have lawyers.

The boys are in the custody of the provincial Department of Children and Family Services.

The civil servants are not in the ages of the boys.
