The police released a surveillance video Monday showing a woman walking in a supermarket at the weekend with a child at her side. The toddler ran out, but the woman never sought the child’s residence and continued shopping. Eventually, a Good Samaritan brought the child back to the mother, to which she replied, “oh, let her.” The mother left the store after paying for the groceries.

The police arrived at the Food-4-Less Sunday night where they have the toddler undamaged and in good condition.

According to the police the child was able to identify the woman as her “mama” as she was shown a surveillance footage photo.

“In my entire career, I have never seen something where out of the blue someone leave their child in a busy supermarket like this,” Riverside police officer Ryan Railsback told Fox 11 Los Angeles.

The toddler is currently in the possession of Child Protective Services.
