A California high school psychologist was arrested last week for allegedly having sex with a student in a classroom, officials said.
John Boyle, 35, has worked as a psychologist at the La Habra High School in April 2018, when the alleged rape took place, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

An investigation has been opened following a report that she had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student at the high school campus, authorities said in a news release on Tuesday.

“The mental health system to adopt a great deal of influence on their patients,” district Attorney Todd Spitzer said in a statement. “This is a betrayal of trust, and it is even more egregious because she used her position to gain her victim’s trust and use of the therapist’s/patient’s relationship to the victim one of the students she was entrusted with to help them.”
Boyle was arrested Sunday. 20 and charged with one felony count of statutory rape. She faces up to three years in prison.
