A new bill in California, is trying to change, as some convicted criminals put on the sex-offender-registry-list, sparking controversy, with some Republicans in the Golden State, it would be animals to shield sexual predator.
The goal of the law, according to California state sen. Scott Wiener, parity, and the laws, which you as a sex offender in the state and an end to the discrimination in the courts against LGBT people.
The current law States that while consensual sex between a 15 – to 17-year-old and a partner within 10 years is illegal, if the couple is with vaginal intercourse, a judge will decide whether the defendant as a sex offender. Other forms of sex require automatically that someone registering as a sex offender.

The law is based on a California Supreme Court ruling that says it is not discriminatory to treat vaginal intercourse and other forms of sex is different, and harsher penalties be implemented for the latter, because the former can lead to pregnancy, while the other can’t.
While the Wiener’s office does not respond to Fox News’ request for comment, the California legislator argued in a statement that the law would have the consequence that the equality of treatment between straight and LGBT youth, and the end of the “blatant discrimination of young LGBT people in mutual consensual sexual activity.”
“This bill is about treating all equally under the law,” Wiener, a Democrat, said in his statement. “These laws were introduced, while a more conservative and anti-LGBT-time in California’s history. You have ruined the lives of the people and made it harder for them to get jobs, safe housing and live a productive life. It is time we update these laws and treat everyone equally.”

Republican lawmakers in California have been strongly against the ” laws say that the draft law would allow sexual predators to lure minors to have sex with them, without the fear to have to, as a sex offender when they are caught.
“The language of the bill says that if a predator is not a year old more than 10 years older than the minor, he or she would have an opportunity to avoid registration as a sex offender,” Republican state sen. Mike Morrell said in a statement to Fox News. “With this bill, our children would be in danger. The bill is wrong and immoral.”
In a press release, the California State Senate Republican Caucus claimed that if the bill is passed, “a 25-year-old lured a 15-year-old, a 22-year-old lured a 12-year-old or a 19-year-old, a 9 lures to be shielded-year-old would under the proposed legislation.”

To say sponsors and supporters of the bill contest this argument, that the bill still claims the determination of who is sentenced to a sexual act with a child 14 years old or younger must automatically register as a sex offender. Instead, they argue that the bill is for the protection of LGBT persons in consensual sexual relations.
“There is no reason for the law to treat a high school senior dating a junior high school is different because of their sexual orientation or gender identity,” Rick Zbur, executive director of equality California, said in a statement. “For years, we have worked to fix these common-sense, and to ensure that LGBTQ young people are treated the same as their peers.”
