The authorities in California on Friday reported that they would have intercepted a large consignment of illegal fireworks with a weight of more than 1,800 pounds.

Law enforcement in Modesto, California, learned about the delivery, after a tip about “two pallets of illegal fireworks”, which were expected to arrive at a residential address in the city, the police said in a press release on Facebook.
The mission included 55 boxes of what is determined to be “aerial mortar-type explosives,” police said, sharing a photo of the recovered fireworks. They come from a distributor in Nevada, according to the press release.

Authorities arrested the receiver of the fireworks at a distance multiple charges, they said.
“They must be planning a heck of a 4th of July party!” the department joked.
