A California high school student has been declared brain dead from injuries sustained during a fight at the school last week, authorities said.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said on Tuesday that the 13-year-old Diego, whose name has not been released, was pronounced clinically dead, despite the rigorous medical intervention, and treatment efforts.”

“The preparations are due to Diego’s family’s have been going on for organ donation and transplantation to transform this tragedy into the gift of life, for the rest of the children,” the sheriff’s department said.
The fight was to take place in September. 16 at Landmark Middle School in Moreno Valley, about 65 miles east of Los Angeles, and was captured on video, Fox 11 reported.

The video, which was shared on social media, reportedly showed the two teenagers and punch the world. As he fell to the ground, his head hit a concrete pillar. Fox 11 reports that the first teenager to hit, and Diego beat him to flee from the scene.
The two students who were involved in the attack, which has not previously been publicly identified because they are minors, were arrested on the day of the fight, and continued to be in custody in a juvenile facility, according to the sheriff’s department.
Extra counselors will be at the Landmark High School to help students and staff in “how to deal with the grief that is being spread in the community as a whole,” the station reported, citing a spokesperson with The Moreno Valley Unified School District (cbd).

“As we grieve together, we want to come together to find solutions, and to take the necessary measures to ensure that tragic incidents such as this do not happen again,” the spokesperson added.
The school district will have a “memorial” for the Diego, california, to the high school on Thursday night.
