“We make no use of information from your Gmail messages to serve ads, and that also applies to the e-mail receipts and confirmations are displayed on the Purchase page,” the spokesperson added.

And it is not clear how to prevent Google from extracting this data from your Gmail account.

“I have no problems with this kind of functions. Give us the control to turn them off,” Lawrence Abrams, the creator and owner of BleepingComputer, told Fox News. Abrams added that he saw it as a violation of privacy.

Apparently, there must be a way to control to purchase tracking via a setting such as “Privacy & personalization” or “Data and personal settings” – both are accessible via your Google account home page – but that seems not to be the case. It is easy to check what Google has tracked, so far by going to your Google “Purchases” page. A check of my page revealed, everything I had bought to go back to 2013, including loads on a Starbucks card, iTunes purchases and flight reservations.

If you do not want to store this data, you can delete it purchases at one time. When you do this, you will be redirected to your Gmail and delete the purchase. There is no single setting that this en masse for all of your purchases.

Google is looking to simplify the settings further to make it easier for people to control the company added.
