Busy day for the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague thanks to the exhibition Mondrian
The Gemeentemuseum in the Hague had on Sunday one of his busiest days ever. More than 4000 people took a look at the exhibition with the work of Piet Mondrian and Bart van der Leck that there to 21 may.
The access was free. ,,We want as many people as possible acquainted with the unique work of the artists of the Style. And that is Sunday more than successful’, says a happy managing director Benno Tempel. This year, it is celebrated that a century ago, is that The magazine de Stijl was founded by Theo van Doesburg.
With, amongst others, Piet Mondriaan, Bart van der Leck and Gerrit Rietveld, he formed the eponymous art movement. The artists wanted to connect to modern developments, and especially with simple shapes and primary colors, and further black, white and grey. The Style is still of influence on the art, architecture and design now.
Throughout the year there are various exhibitions for the Dutch national theme year ” Mondrian to Dutch Design. 100 years of Style’ on show at the Gemeentemuseum.
