Burt Reynolds is reportedly hoping to re-connect with the love of his life, Sally Field.
The “Smokey and the Bandit” co-star of five years after they met on the set of the 1977 film. The former couple appeared in four movies together before calling it quits in the ’80s.
Reynolds, 82, was going to marry actress Loni Anderson in 1988. That marriage ended in 1994.

Field moved on and married Alan Greisman in 1984. They divorced in 1993.
“Burt and Sally ended on a bad note when they split in 1982, but he would also like to have a visit from her,” a friend of Reynolds told Closer Weekly Wednesday. “He would be deeply moved if she came and they could talk about old times – the good times.”
According to the magazine, a possible reunion with Reynolds’ old flame, now 71, could possibly happen.
The close pal was the Emmy-winning star is considering a move to Los Angeles from Tequesta, FL. where he is a resident of the past 30 years. The West Coast would make it easier for the busy actor, who is currently filming his new movie, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”
A rep for Reynolds had no comment for Fox News. A salesperson in the Field is also not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.
So why did Reynolds and in the Field from each other? Celebrity biographer Marc Eliot says that he knows the answer.
“Burt broke up with Sally, because she was press him to marry,” he says.

Reynolds himself admitted in the years in which the termination of his relationship with the Field was probably one of the biggest mistakes of his life.
“I miss her terribly,” he told Vanity Fair back in 2015. “Even now, it is hard for me. I don’t know why I was so stupid. Men are like that, you know. Finding the perfect person, and then you should do everything you can to ruin it.”
In response to the confession, Field told People Magazine she wanted to keep her own statement.
“I have no comment, really, and the only reaction I would have would belong to him,” she said at the time.
Back in March, Reynolds revealed “Today” show host Hoda Kotb that Field was the love of his life. Reynolds also explained he wanted the Field of the star with him in “Smokey and the Bandit”, but was told the actress was not “sexy”
“I said,” You don’t get it, talent is sexy,'” said Reynolds.
