Burn-out officially as a disease recognised by the world health organization

Burn-out is by the world health organization (WHO) officially recognized as an independent disease. The feeling of burn-out stems from chronic stress at the workplace, to include a negative attitude towards the work and performance degradation may result, is the definition of the WHO.

Burn-out belongs to one of the 55,000 diseases, symptoms, and causes of injuries that are listed in the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11). The catalog was approved at the annual meeting of the WHO in Geneva.

The list is after almost thirty years of revision and shall take effect on 1 January 2022 in operation. Also compulsive sexual behavior and onlinegokverslaving are new in the list of health problems.

Each condition is a private code assigned. Doctors all over the world to register their diagnoses in the future with the new codes. This allows accurate statistics to be compiled and gezondheidstrends be documented.
