The European Commission wants to Moldova 100 million euros in financial assistance. The Moldovan government has Brussels itself asked for help, according to a communication from the commission.

The support would be for 60 million euro of favorable medium-term loans and 40 million as a contribution from the EU budget. The member states and the European Parliament need a proposal first to approve.

According to EU commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis (euro and financial stability) helps the support, and a special crisisprogramma for the neighbouring countries, to the economy in poverty-stricken Eastern European country to stabilize.

The intended financing, in three parts, in 2017 and 2018, linked to a new IMF programme, which is aimed at reforms that the banking sector should strengthen.
