Brown University to give an honorary doctorate in the Stitch

PROVIDENCE, R. I. – Ivy League school Brown University bestows an honorary doctorate on the English musician Sting.

The Rhode Island school will provide him with the extent of its 250th commencement Sunday. Nobel prize-winning physicist J. Michael Kosterlitz, among other nominees.

Sting was the groundbreaking British rock band The Police with Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers in 1977. He is the co-founder of an environmental organization, the Rainforest Fund to protect the world from the rainforests.
