Brouwer and Meeuwsen off at the World Tour Finals in Toronto
Beachvolleyballers Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen are Saturdays off in the eighth finals of the World Tour Finals in Toronto. The winners of the bronze medal at the Olympic Games had Saturday to bow to Ben Saxton and Chaim Schalk, Canada: 19-21, 19-21.
They lost in the group stages, all of the Latvians Janis Smedins and Aleksandrs Samoilovs (19-21, 14-21) and Poland’s Grzegorz Fijalek/Mariusz Prudel (14-21, 24-26). Therefore, they found a strong opponent in the eighth-finals. Saxton and Schalk are fourth in Toronto.
At the World Tour Finals to do the best eight teams of this season, supplemented with four duos that are invited by the organization. Brouwer and Meeuwsen did with such a wildcard. They were the seventh placed.
