Brother-in-law of the Spanish king, in an appeal against conviction corruptiezaak
The brother-in-law of the Spanish king, Felipe VI, Iñaki Urdangarin, is to appeal against his sentence to six years and three months in prison because of forgery, embezzlement and money laundering.
Urdungarin was Friday convicted of one of the protagonists of a foundation where, in the years 2003-2006 in millions of euros public money have disappeared and been hidden.
His wife, Cristina de Borbón y Grecia (sister of Felipe VI) was of complicity accused, but was acquitted by the court.
The lawyer of Urdangarin, Mario Pascal Vives, made Tuesday, is known to appeal. He acknowledged that his client also runs the risk of a higher punishment to come, but Pascal Vives said according to Spanish media convinced that Urdangarin, the cell is not in need.
