The Broadwaymusical Mean Girls, is based on the same tienercomedy in 2004, is getting a film adaptation of the novel. It reports The Hollywood Reporter on Friday.
Comedian and actress Tina Fey, who was previously the Broadwaystuk wrote the story in a screenplay, to casting. Previously, she wrote the screenplay of the original film from 2004, which was based on a self-help book Queen Bees and Wannabes.
Mean Girls is about a girl who grew up in Africa with her parents to the United States emigrated. This is the end of the high school, where a bunch of fake girls to run away.
The main characters in the film were played by Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams. Who are the new cast members, it has not yet been announced.
Fey wrote, in addition to the screenplay for Mean Girls was previously involved in comedy series such as 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which she is in. “I am really looking forward to it would be to see Mean Girls and then back to the big screen,” notes the comedian. “I’ve had sixteen years with these characters before. They are, in my Marvel universe.”
This is not the first time that a film by a musical again in a movie. This is how it works: Steven Spielberg is currently working on a new version of “The Color Purple”, based on the homonymous musical piece for eleven Tony Awards it was nominated for.
