Director Brian De Palma is back with a new film, and one that is based on the Hollywoodschandaal around film director Harvey Weinstein, the film in October last year to its foundations did shake.
“I am in consultation with a French film producer’, told De Palma to Le Parisien. He also noted that the film is purely based on the Weinstein-scandal, and that it is not a reconstruction of the facts. ‘My character will not Harvey Weinstein called,” he said, ” but the film will be a horror story to tell about a sexual aggressor within the film industry.’
Obsession, voyeurism, sex and violence are recurring themes in De Palma’s earlier work. He made his debut at the end of the 60s, with experimental, revolutionary movies like Hi, Mom. With Sisters, Obsession and Carrie he brought a homage to the famous director Alfred Hitchcock in the 70’s. Afterwards made The Palma variety of exciting misdaadfilms such as Scarface, The Untouchables and the world famous Mission: Impossible.
While De Palma on his Weinstein-idea breeding, is his latest film ready for release. Domino was partly in Antwerp, filmed and tells the story of a policeman who goes in search of the killer of his partner. The release of the film is, however, indefinitely postponed.
