The Robust Brouwers in Oostvleteren won the Sunday eight gold medals during the RateBeer Awards. Their Cuvée Delphine was voted ‘best beer of Belgium’.
RateBeer, one of the world’s most important bierwebsites, organized Sunday the 15th RateBeer Best Awards. The award ceremony was attended by dozens of brewers from North America, Europe, South America and Asia.
The award for the “best brewer in the world 2016” went to Hill Farmstead Brewery (Vermont, USA). The Robust Brouwers in Oostvleteren returned with eight gold medals home. Five of their beers in the top 100 of the best beers in the world, and their Cuvée Delphine was voted “best beer of Belgium”.
The brewery from the Westhoek was also the first in the category “best brewery of Belgium” and acquired, just like breweries 3 Fountains from Beersel and Cantillon from Brussels, a place in the top 100 of the best brewers in the world by 2016. The Belgian bierstekerij Bokkereyder was voted “best newcomer in the world”.
RateBeer-president Joe Tucker presented a gold medal to Kurt Panneels, owner of the Insurance against the Great Thirst in Eizeringen. The inn celebrates this year its 175 anniversary, and it was for the third consecutive year voted “best café of Belgium”. The Flemish-Brabant café will also be on the list of the best cafes in the world.
The RateBeer Awards since 2002, is awarded once a year. They give the performance of past 12 months of the best actors in the bierwereld. The quotes that are given by a global network of beer lovers. The RateBeer database now has millions of reviews about more than 470.000 beers of more than 26.000 breweries.
