The former Director of the CIA John Brennan, and former DNI James Clapper blasted President Trump on Friday evening for the leadership of the attorney General William Barr to declassify documents in connection with the monitoring of his campaign during the election in 2016, calling it “outrageous.”
“I see it as a very, very serious and outrageous move on the part of Mr. Trump, once again, trampling on the statutory authorities of the Director of National Intelligence, and the heads of independent news services,” Brennan told MSNBC host Chris Hayes. “And it is unclear to me what Mr Barr is actually going to do. He is investigating a crime? Now, what is the predication of the crime? Or he is just looking for information,… that Mr. Trump can only give up his defender on the right and cherry-pick ” information could be taken out of context?”

Brennan expressed concern about exposing “sources and methods” as well as the intelligence of the “foreign partners.”
“This is very serious and I know that my former colleagues in the intelligence services, are looking on this with great sadness and concern,” the former top Obama official.
He later said that he hopes that the DNI Dan Coats and CIA Director Gina reel will “stand up” President Trump did the “unprecedented.”
Brennan President Trump on Twitter suggested, after the President shared a political cartoon caricature of the former Director of the CIA former DNI Clapper, and FBI Director James Comey.

Meanwhile, Clapper told CNN ‘ s Anderson Cooper that the “larger Problem”, “what exactly is the scope” of the declassification is, whether it’s all of Russia’s interference in the election, or only the counter-intelligence probe. He expressed similar concerns how Brennan regarding sources and methods are revealed and put “the lives of people in danger.”
