Brands makes promotion and joins to the management of Everton

Marcel Brands has Tuesday promoted at Everton. The 56-year-old Dutchman has joined the executive board of the English club.

“The entry of Brands into the board is a major step for Everton. For example, he gets a more prominent place within our association”, said director Denise Barrett-Baxendale after a general meeting.

Brands last year, ‘director of football’ at Everton, but he is by his rangverhoging now not only responsible for the selection policy, but for the overall voetbalstrategie.

The born Bosschenaar came last summer from PSV. He served in Eindhoven since 2010 as technical director, and won for the Locals to three league titles (2015, 2016 and 2018) and a KNVB cup (2012).

After he was in 1997 stopped as a player worked for Brands also as technical director at RKC Waalwijk and AZ. He combined that function with RKC chief executive officer.

Brands working on first foreign adventure

At Everton is Brands working on his first foreign adventure. His first job was in June to a new manager, which is ultimately the Portuguese Marco Silva was.

Brands then drew the necessary players, including no less than three (Bernard, Yerry Mina and André Gomes) on the final day of the transfer market on 31 August.
