Acting CBP Commissioner Mark Morgan says, 71 miles of border wall with 164 km under construction; William La Jeunesse reports from Los Angeles.
The border officials arrested just over 52,000 migrants at the southern border in September-a further decline in the numbers for the fourth month in a row-as administration officials said on Tuesday, the numbers are a proof that the policy work on the border.
Total hits, make those who are arrested or turned away, were announced 52,546 in September, Customs and Border Protection (CBP). It marked a decline of almost 65 per cent of 144,000 occurred in may and an 18 percent decrease compared to August, with just over 64,000 arrested.

“This represents the fourth month in a row, a steady decline in apprehensions,” Acting CBP Commissioner Mark Morgan told reporters. “This is an unprecedented achievement.”
Morgan pointed to agreements with countries other than the migrants-protection protocols (MPP), the sending migrants back to Mexico, where they belonged to her. MPP is currently facing legal challenges, as well as the objections of activists, the protocols includes, migrants sent back to potentially dangerous areas, can be attacked by smugglers and gangs.
But Morgan said that CBP enrolled more than 51,000 migrants in the MPP and said they will receive protection and permission, while in Mexico.
“With MPP, migrants get due process and protection, while the United States is the restoration of the integrity of our immigration system,” he said. “We are closing the loopholes and reducing the smuggling organizations” ability to profit on the backs of migrants, while at the same time, utilization of our system.”
Morgan, the administration cited the efforts to the end of the 1997 Flores settlement, limited the time, the minor may be held in custody.
He also pointed to regional agreements with countries such as Guatemala and El Salvador.
But Morgan said that the figures are still too high, the call to the average of 1,700 apprehensions a day, “unacceptable”and repeated his calls for Congress to act to end loopholes in the U.S. immigration system.

“The bottom line is: We must still pass the Congress, sensible legislation to address our broken legal framework when it comes to immigration,” he said. “And while Congress has failed to bring you a piece of sensible legislation to the floor, this President, this government is doing exactly what he promised to the American people.”
The good news of the border comes at an important time for the administration and the White house, as of 2020, the election campaign is gearing up for the year. Immigration is likely to be a Central theme, and Trump is looking to promise to be able to tout his successes in curbing illegal immigration — something a Central in 2016.

As part of this effort, the administration stepped up its efforts in the construction of the wall on the southern border, with plans to construct upwards of 450-500 km by the end of 2020.
Morgan on Tuesday gave an update to reporters, said that 71 miles have been completed so far, and the administration was on the way to his goal.
“This is not what the President asked for, what the experts are asked to help you to save your work and protect this great nation,” he said. “The President just listened to them and he delivers his promise.”
