Bomb squad visit Treasury chief Mnuchin home is a false alarm, police say

A report Saturday was a suspicious package before Christmas, the California home of U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, Steven Mnuchin, a false alarm, police said.

A Los Angeles Police Department bomb squad responded after a neighbor in the town of Bel Air reported to the area that the package was reported in the entrance Mnuchin residence KTLA-TV.

But it turned out that the package, wrapped in Christmas paper and was told “the American people”, filled with horse manure, LAPD Sgt. R. Briggs. The officials found that it was a threat.

A Christmas card discovered bill inside made negative references to Mnuchin, President Donald Trump, and the US $1.5 trillion of US tax-that Trump signed into law on Friday, according to police.

The package has been removed from the scene a short time later. Reports indicate that no one was evacuated from the area. Police have not yet released more information about the package.

It was not clear whether Mnuchin and his wife, Louise Linton, were inside the house at the time.

Mnuchin, the 77th Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Treasury in February, when the U.S. Senate confirmed his appointment by President Trump.
