Bollywood goes bananas Movie ‘Kabali’ breaks records and start a real hype

The Bollywoodfilm ‘Kabali’, with superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role, has records broken in the Indian territory. More still: the whole country is it in an uproar: people keep gebedsceremonies, get a few days off on their work especially to see the film and many a rickshaw is an ad dressed up.

The cultural diversity in India is large, but one thing seems to them now to unite: the latest movie Kabali from director Pa. Ranjith, with the coveted superstar Rajinikanth, also known as ‘God’. Rajinikanth plays a gangster who is looking for revenge. The face of the 65-year-old actor adorns every street corner in South India, but also in the North saves the film tremendously, regardless of the language barriers.

The film allows for such a massive euphoria that people leave get to him. Kabali to win the openingsrecord on Friday with a yield of 65 crore rupees (almost 9 million) in ticket sales. Even before the movie came out, the makers were already more than 200 crore rupees (27 million euro) within the presale. The print itself was made on a budget of 170 crore rupees (€25.5 million).
