Body recovered in search Phoenix airport worker following drilling incident

The crane was used for the construction of the airport, the PHX Sky Train.

Search and recovery teams with Phoenix Fire, along with the construction workers working on the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, recovered the body of a construction worker that is lost when a component of a drilling rig collapsed on Monday.

The identity of the man was not released, Fox 10 Pheonix reports.

The drilling equipment was used for construction on the PHX Sky Train, a spokesman for the airport Monday confirmed.

Phoenix Fire Department Technical Rescue Teams responded to the scene at 9:30 a.m., and initially reported that a crane was toplled about in a statment to Fox News.

“Incident Commanders have worked closely with the building staff to account for all employees in the area during the incident and is currently still one person missing. We have no information about the person or his condition at this point,” said Monday.

“Phoenix Fire Technical rescue personnel train often for this type of incident are to give all for the life of the safety of the victim and the safety of the rescuers,” the PFD mentioned.

The department added that it had taken “a lot of time to determine whether this is a rescue or recovery.”
