Black Sabbath keyboardist Geoff Nicholls (68) died
Geoff Nicholls, former keyboardist of Black Sabbath, is Saturday at the age of 68 died from the effects of lung cancer. Tony Iommi, guitarist of heavy metal band, made on Facebook of the death of his colleague and friend known.
“Geoff and I were always very close, he was almost 40 years a true friend and great support to me. I will miss it hugely, he will live on in my heart until we meet again. Rest in peace, dear friend,” writes Iommi, who is himself in 2016 healed of cancer, for which he for four years was treated.
Nicholls played five years with the keys in our band Quartz when he came in 1979 to join Black Sabbath with singer Ronnie James Dio. This replaced Ozzy Osbourne, who was fired because of excessive drinking and drug use.
Even after the return of Osboune in 1996, Nicholls with the band. In 2004, the pianist was replaced by Adam Wakeman, who already worked with Ozzy worked with during his solo career.
