Billie Lourd will celebrate mother’s and Carrie Fisher, with a cover of Tom Petty’s “American Girl” in a birthday tribute

Billie Lourd, the music, and in honor of her mother, and Carrie Fisher in what would have been her 63rd birthday.

In an Instagram post, Lourd, 27, and a couple of friends singing an acoustic version of “American Girl” by Tom Petty, in her mother’s honor.

“Happy birthday, Momby,” she captioned the video. “Today would have been my Momby’s 63rd birthday. Not that I’m some kind of a grief expert by any means, but, on the achievements (or whatever you want to call it that) such as this one, and I want to celebrate it by doing things that they would like to do that.”

Lorde then went on to be her choice of song and the setting.

“So, here’s a little video of me singing one of her favorite songs, an American girl (Tom Petty) in one of her favorite places, her bath-tub, of course). I’ll probably grab a pint of vanilla Haggen Dazs and Coca-Cola for dinner.”

Lourd received praise from friends, just like the “Scream Queens” co-star, Keke Palmer, saying, “I love you Billy!” and, Cheyanne Jackson, who said: “it is just perfect and beautiful. If you are, honey.”

Fisher’s “Star Wars” co-star Mark Hamill is also discussed. “#AlwaysWithUs,” he said.

Lourd also posted a video of himself singing, and in December of last year, saying: “It’s been 2 years since my Momby the dead, and I still don’t know what the “right” thing to do on a death anniversary, it is… So I decided to do something a little bit fragile to me, but it is something we both love to do – sing. It’s the piano her dad gave her, and it was one of her favorite songs. And, as the song says, we must “keep moving.”

In the video, they are singing the song “These Days” by Jackson Browne.

Fisher passed away unexpectedly in December 2016, after suffering a heart attack while in the air. Fisher’s mother and Lourd’s grandmother, Debbie Reynolds, and died two days later following a stroke at the age of 84.

Lourd is currently starring in the ninth season of “American Horror Story” and will be seen in the ‘ Star Wars: Episode IX – The rise and Rise of the Skywalker,” which is the use of archive footage of her mother as well.
