Former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld, who is challenging President trump in pre-election campaign of the Republican, announced on Monday that the President committed the betrayal by his controversial phone call to the Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky — add to that the penalty for treason is death.
The statement drew a swift rebuke from the Trump campaign.
“The media has driven grief with trump derangement syndrome, they told Fox News in an actual discussion about the scheduled execution of the President of the United States,” communications director Tim Murtaugh. “In severe cases of TDS, such as this, immediate consultation with a physician is recommended.”

Welding was the response to claims that Trump under pressure Zelensky set to investigate, Hunter Biden, — threatened the son of the former Vice President and current Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden — and to deny them military assistance for Ukraine as a lever. Trump has denied wrongdoing.
“To talk about the setting of a foreign country to interfere, and the control of a US election, it could not be clearer. And this is not only an undermining of the democratic institutions, this is treason,” welding, said on MSNBC the “Morning Joe.” “It is treason, plain and simple. And the punishment for treason under the US Code is death. This is the only punishment.”
You are welding then referred to the indictment as a possible alternative to a criminal case, stating, “The punishment is according to the Constitution, removal from office, and that could look like a pretty good alternative to the President, if he could work out a plea deal.”
Welding is the mention of the death penalty later ignited a conversation about the “legal framework” of the claim. Welding said, “The only punishment for treason is death, it is laid down in the articles of Association.”
While the U.S. Code contains a list of the death penalty claim the welding as a punishment for treason, that it is the only penalty is wrong. Treason is covered by the 18. U.S. Code, section 2381, which States that a person guilty of treason “shall suffer death, or not less than five years and fined under this title shall be imprisoned, not less than $10,000; and is incapable of holding any office under the United States.”

Weld the comments demanding Trump came during a joint TV appearance with the other two longshot Republican next year with the elementary school: the former South Carolina Governor and Congressman Mark Sanford and former Illinois Rep.
