Upcoming ‘Ghostbusters’ reboot writer-director Jason Reitman is under fire for the comments he made that were interpreted by the critics as a sexist attack on the 2016 female-led film in the franchise.
Calling all “Ghostbusters” fans: Dr. Peter Venkman — a.k.a. actor Bill Murray is open for the capture of supernatural creatures once more.
In a recent interview with IndieWire, Murray revealed he would be willing to take part in the new “Ghostbusters” film directed by Jason Reitman — the son of the franchise’s original director Ivan Reitman — who allegedly planned to hit the big screen in 2020. The film will have no ties with the all-female 2016 “Ghostbusters” movie, per Entertainment Weekly.
“This franchise paid for my son’s college,” Murray candidly told IndieWire. “We have this thing. We are the guardians of the. It is a great thing and it was really a fun movie to make. It is a real movie with some really funny things.”

Screen Rant notes, the 68-year-old, up to this time, has previously expressed disinterest in creating a third “Ghostbusters” film. That said, he had a cameo in the 2016 version, mainly because of his friendship with actresses Kate McKinnon and Melissa McCarthy.
“I was in that movie, and only because they asked me to, and I knew that if I said no, I said that I was not for that movie,” he told the publication. “I felt like, OK, I am planning to support them because I support them as people. So I did that, and I would do this.”
