Kaley Cuoco arrives at the 22nd Annual Critics’ Choice Awards in Santa Monica, California, USA, 11 December 2016.
“The Big Bang Theory” actress Kaley Cuoco was just as surprised as the rest of the world to find out that Season 12 will be the long-running comedy’s last. However, that does not mean that they are fully ready to hang out of her character, Penny, for good.
Speaking with Extra, the stars reflected earlier statements that the news was very sad for her and the rest of the cast and crew to process.
“It is my broken heart,” she confessed to the outlet. “I’m so sad that it end. For the record, I would have done 20 years.”
The star went on to note that both she and the rest of the cast were moved to tears by the news, saying that most of them think that they are the victims of some elaborate joke.
“I think we all hope for a giant” bazinga!'” she joked, invoking one of the sitcom’s terms.
However, for the fans who are sad about the end of “The Big Bang Theory,” Cuoco gave them a shred of hope, that they haven’t heard the last of the intrepid gang of nerds. Rumors have swirled for a while is that the co-creator, writer and producer Chuck Lorre can be looked at a possible spin-off a la “Frasier” and “Joey.”
While Cuoco admitted that she hadn’t heard anything about a possible spin-off with her character, she made sure to let them know that they would be on the board if offered.
“If he called me and said, ‘let’s do something tomorrow, I would do that.”
According To E! News, Cuoco immediate plans after the end of Season 12 are just to enjoy the life of a couple. The actress is wed to Karl Cook in July, and the two are enjoying the wedding couple since. They also noted that they would want to take on a number of larger projects with her production company, where she began to dip her toe in the water to produce.
In other words, it seems that they have a lot of time on her hands that can easily be filled with a spin-off, Lorre, CBS, or anyone else with the power to decide to push forward with one.
