“Big Bang Theory” star Kaley Cuoco took to Instagram on Wednesday to express her sorrow for the series’ end.
Kaley Cuoco always knew this day would come, but that doesn’t make it easier.
The 32-year-old actress took to Instagram on Wednesday to comment on the end of “The Big Bang Theory” just hours after CBS announced the sitcom’s 12th season would be his last.

“This ride is a dream come true and as life changing as he gets. It doesn’t matter when it would end, my heart would still be broken in two,” Cuoco wrote alongside a sweet photo of the cast. “Drowning in tears, we promise to give you the best season ever.”
“For the fans, our crew, families, Chuck Lorre, Warner Brothers, CBS and everyone who have supported us for so many years, thank you. We are off with a bang 💫 @bigbangtheory_cbs,” she added.

Cuoco played Penny on the CBS hit since it premiered in 2007. ‘Big Bang’ will have its last installment in May 2019, the period ends as the longest-running multi-camera series in TV history, with a record-breaking total of 279 episodes. Co-stars Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik yet commented on the news — although Rauch celebrated on the first footage from season 12 with the cast on Tuesday.

ET caught up with the cast at the PaleyFest in March, where it appeared that the future of the series was in the air. Cuoco, however, is hopeful about the continuation of the series. “I love being a part of the show and I think it is very stupid to say no. There’s just nothing better. Season 13 sounds pretty cool,” she said.

In a joint statement on Wednesday, Warner Bros Television, CBS and Chuck Lorre Productions promised an “epic” conclusion of the show.
“We are always grateful to our fans for their support of “The Big Bang Theory” in the past 12 seasons,” the statement read. “We, together with the cast, the writers and the crew, are very thankful for the success and strive to deliver a final season, and series finale, which will bring “The Big Bang Theory” of an epic creative close.”
“The Big Bang Theory”‘s final season will premiere Monday, Sept. 24 at 8 pm ET/PT on CBS, for the move of the regular period on Thursday, Sept. 27 at 8 pm ET/PT.
