Beverly Hills moved one step closer to the first U.S. city to ban the sale of tobacco products

Beverly Hills is a step closer Tuesday night, moved, as the first city in the nation, the sale of tobacco and nicotine prohibition products, after the city Council decides to adopt, unanimously, the in the first of two votes required, that the prohibition.

“The Grand Havana Room, which I have been a member, since its inception, provides a valuable home away from home,” Schwarzenegger wrote in a letter to support one of the lounges, according to the Los Angeles Times. “It is unthinkable that the city adopt a policy that will cause intentionally or unintentionally, the closure of the character-defining institution.”

Schwarzenegger added that, while he products supports the ban on the sale of tobacco, which, he said, it is a “fundamental difference” between the cigar club and a gas station, the sale of nicotine capsules for e-cigarettes.
